Current research activities:
Investigation of factors and molecular mechanisms responsible for induction and progression of autoimmunity linked with uncorrect folding and apoptosis.
Ongoing Research Projects:
- Investigation of molecular mechanisms of heart failure at dilated cardiomyopathy progression; identification and characterization of
target antigens for development of new diagnostic and therapeutic tools
- The study of regulatory role of molecular chaperons Hsp60, Hsp70 and Hsp90 in stress-induced apoptotic pathways of cardiomyocytes,
identification and characterization of their co-chaperons and client proteins as pharmacologic targets
- Evaluation of possible involvement of ubiquitin-proteasome system in functional interaction of apoptosis and autoimmunity at heart
failure progression
Recent Achievements:
- Creation of experimental animal model of myosin-induced autoimmune heart damage like human dilated cardiomyopathy for study of molecular
mechanisms of heart failure and for in vivo screening of new drugs
- Development of method for generation of monospecific polyclonal antibodies with high affinity directed against high conservative antigens
with low immunogenicity such as mammalian molecular chaperons, GAPDH, cytochrome C, human defensins etc.
- Characterization of molecular chaperons Hsp60, Hsp70, Hsp90 expression and subcellular localization at dilated cardiomyopathy progression.
- Identification of Hsp60 and Hsp90 client proteins such as p70S6-kinases in cardiomyocytes signal pathways during heart failure progression
(at dilated and ischemic cardiomyopathies and myocarditis).
