Research interest of the Department mainly concerns:

Studies on biological mutagenesis and the role of reparative systems in the renovation of genetic damages in cells of both pro-and eukaryotic origin.

Ongoing research projects are focused on:

  • Studies on regulatory mechanisms of cytotoxic and mutagenic activity of alkylating compounds with the aim of optimisation of the chemotherapy of oncological diseases.
  • Elaboration of technology for isolation, cultivation and differentiation of human stem cells for further application in gene and cell therapy, including.
  • New approaches for enhancing the resistance of biosystems to environmental and professional hazards are being intensively developed.
  • Design of mutation process models and experimental samples of computer programs for data base processing.
